Competitive Exams: A General Idea

In today’s situation, almost every student has to go with disclosure of various types of competitive exams of different subjects at different levels. Parents should struggle to attain skill of their youngster on a large field rather than settling for scores obtained in school exams. In science, various competitive exams are conducted at different levels like school, junior colleges or college.

Unlike school tests these are very active examinations of different kinds. They do not have arranged text book or a well defined syllabus. Most of them do not require you to write long individual answers in perfect handwriting or draw neat diagrams to gain merit. There exams are totally based on concept of understandings, daily application and deals, visualization, looking at any problem from unusual viewpoints, social and scientific awareness, answers with educated assume and strong time management.

For beginners, students should be relaxed and comfortable with multiple choice questions (MCQs) and shading OMR answer sheets as most of the exams are MCQ based. There is a need to practice different kinds of MCQs, learn to reach the right answer by deducing or by exclusion and manage time well across each question. Most of exams include negative marking.

At school level, competitive examinations focus mainly on Science, Mathematics, English, Logical Aptitude and General Knowledge. They give you a light and rough idea about the kind of exams that you would need to face later in your academic life like the JEEs, CAT, and CETs.
