As we grow in our life, nature showers more responsibilities, knowledge and awareness in its usual way upon us. We start our life from being dependent on our parent right from the birth and later grow into an independent and confident human being. Have you ever noticed or experienced when you took your first self-governing decision? Well, no one would memorize that thing! It all happens so innocently that we just cannot keep a track of how we start decision making. Let’s consider decision making as a skill or science. Since we consider it as a science, sure we could derive some method for decision making. In our daily lives, we are confronted with a task which can be bestowed on us by our choice or some family concerns or social ties or just anything. We think for a solution to hold that job correctly and in time. We do a judgment, act upon it and things are done. Isn't this the most common way through which all of us takes a decision? Let’s try to obtain an equation for decision making. On one side we have a problem (let’s call it 'the issue' or 'the subject’). It’s defined or acted upon by convinced variables like urgency, importance, link to future, relevance and scale. With the problem on one side we design or plan a solution which tries to answer these variables. The value of these variables on the other side forms the answer or the judgment. Let take the case of choosing a career option for you as a problem. Considering that your are pursuing your schoolwork in Class XII or HSC with 3 months to appear for your board exams and want to choose a career line today. For arriving on a proper decision for yourself, you place yourself in a set of variables like your interest, chance in the market, future prospect etc. Judging yourself on the values of these variables you should take a decision of career choices in front of you. Keep your goal in mind and choose career wisely. In addition, we would like to say the only general thumb rule in decision making is ‘detailed thinking' before taking at a decision. Do not take a decision half heartedly. Take it wisely! |
